Mission

The West Michigan Cyber Security Consortium is a multi-jurisdictional and public/private partnership whose purpose is to enhance the prevention, protection, response, and recovery to cyber security threats, disruptions, and degradation to critical information technology functions.

Background

The WMCSC was established in 2010 to serve professionals in cyber security, emergency management, law enforcement, and the broader communities inside the Department of Homeland Security’s Region 5 and Michigan’s Region 6. The first member meeting welcomed around 25 individuals from the Information Technologies Management Association (ITMA). Since then, the membership count experienced a steady rise, and at one point even exceeded 700 and spanned across more geographic areas. The WMCSC is led by a steering committee in charge of planning member meetings and activities, reviewing projects, and making budgetary decisions.
